Motivation

Once we successfully built and started operating a prototype device, we realized we needed to reconfigure the networking for it to successfully act as a router and server simultaneously.

Solution

Created a bridge interface comprised of the Wi-Fi card and the second NIC. This way devices on the Wi-Fi can address devices on the LAN and vice versa.
The bridge interface is a shared ipv4 connection providing a dhcp server via dnsmasq
Set up the first Ethernet card as the upstream gateway.

Miscellaneous changes

Simplified VM ready check to only check major/minor kernel version
Started implementing an API wrapper around CLI commands. Starting with nmcli & firewall-cmd
